Kirsty Greenwood: Illustrator
Kirsty Greenwood is a freelance illustrator from North Yorkshire who is inspired by pareidolia (the ability to see faces and objects in patterns or random marks). Her work is featured in many publications of short story literature, poetry and literary reviews and has been exhibited in galleries internationally, with ger illustrations earning her two Best Of The Net nominations for 2024 and 2025.
Elisabeth Flett: Writer, Musician & Theatre-maker
Elisabeth Flett is an award-winning writer, theatre-maker, musician and graduate of the Elphinstone Institute MLitt Scottish Ethnology and Folklore course. With a keen interest in queer Scottish Folklore, Elisabeth is also passionate about exploring mental health awareness, LGBTQ+ rights and gender equality, all of which can be seen in their work.
Ciara Armstrong - Blood Stone Books
Ciara Armstrong is the owner and visionary behind Blood Stone Books, a bookshop based in Newcastle Upon Tyne that specialises in horrors, thrillers and ‘all things morbid’. After being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome when she was 15, Ciara conjured up the idea for Blood Stone Books during her education. After graduating with a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, Ciara worked hard on launching her dream bookshop.
Illustrator: Ros Lorimer
Ros Lorimer is a textile artist and archaeological illustrator working in vector, watercolour and graphic novel style pieces of work. Self-proclaimed lover of folklore, Ros utilised her love for Archaeology and Art and found a course that combined the two for her BA. We had the pleasure of chatting to Ros about where her creativity stems from, how folklore inspires her artwork, who her fascination with superstitions comes from and how her art helps her to reconnect in a modern world.
Illustrator: Another Realm
Sasha Spyrou is an illustrator and designer based in Liverpool heavily inspired by folklore, folk horror, myth and magic. Another Realm’ is her place to explore the uncanny, weird, magical and everyday strange of the world, experimenting with laser cutting, jewellery making, applique, screen printing and murals. We had the joy of chatting to Sasha about what encourages her creativity, her favourite medium, what about folklore inspires her work and how this helps her to connect to her local landscapes.
Folk Musician: HerOrangeCoat
Living in West Yorkshire, Georgia is a musician performing as HerOrangeCoat. With her ukulele in hand and influenced by her life experiences to date, she weaves a rich tapestry of sound. We had the joy of chatting to HerOrangeCoat about how Yorkshire’s landscapes influence her music, which folklore tales she enjoys the most and where her love for music comes from.
Kym Deyn: Writer, Poet & Publisher
Kym Deyn is a poet and writer focusing on different magics, the gaps in history and myth, time, grief and post-industrial landscapes. We had the chance to chat to Kym about their influences, how folklore weaves into their poetry, the beauty of collaboration and how they can reconnect with their landscape through their work.
Katie Ness: Historian, Poet and Folklorist
Katie Ness is a budding historian and Folklorist, originally from a coastal Lancashire town and now living in London, Katie is studying towards becoming a social historian of all things magical, esoteric and folkloric. We had the chance to chat to Katie about academia being a large part of her life, how her writing projects help to explore who she is and the connection between folklore, women's history and movement of the body.

We had the delight of chatting to Ruby about creative projects as a form of self-expression, reconnecting to oneself during modern times and how folklore could help people navigate difficult times.

Emily Wild is a foraging guide and folk herbalist. We had the honour of chatting to Emily about reconnecting people with the seasons, nature and the history of our landscape, how the popularity of 'folklore' advocates for a greener, more sustainable society and which plantlore is her favourite!

Fiona Holmes is the artist behind Minifi’s Oddities, specialising in original illustrations and linocut prints. We sat down with Fiona to chat about what inspired her creativity, how 'hands-on' craft brings her closer to folk traditions and how the linocut process helps her to reconnect with herself.

North East Folklore Society: Nikki Bell
North East Folklore Society curate local lore and host folk events centring around the North East - Sunderland, Newcastle, Durham and Northumberland and is ran by Nikki Bell. Northern Folklore Archive had the pleasure of chatting to Nikki about all things North East, utilising folklore as a means of returning to ‘analogue’ and the infamous Lambton Worm!
