We love cinema at Northern Folklore Archive. In fact, one of us has a Film Degree (that she doesn’t use). And so, we formed the Go Folk Yourself: Folk Horror Film Club to showcase fun Folk Horror cinema in collaboration with independent cinemas in the North!

Northern Folklore Archive have partnered with CUTLPLEX to bring you a screening of The Wolf of Snow Hollow as part of their 2026 STAB Film Season!
The Wolf of Snow Hollow:
John Marshall, a recovering alcoholic and local police officer, never believed in werewolves. Until, that is, mysterious dead bodies began turning up every full moon in his small hill town. But how can you solve something that is merely legend? Unsteadily treading between horror and comedy, The Wolf of Snow Hollow pulls folklore into what should be a simple small town crime mystery.

Northern Folklore Archive visited Cultplex, Manchester to host a screening of the 2017 folk horror film The Ritual back in April 2026.
The Ritual:
The Ritual is a 2017 folk horror that follows four longtime friends on their journey through the Swedish wilderness. A wrong turn leads them into a remote forest where they can't help but feel that something ominous is following them... A perfect blend of folk horror and psychological tension, The Ritual is sure to send shivers down your spine.
